About

Mission

To improve public health by increasing access to continuing education and professional development opportunities for mental health providers in Minnesota.

Need

Though there are many training opportunities happening for mental health providers to engage in continuing education each week in Minnesota, knowledge of, and access to, those opportunities is disjointed, disorganized, and inequitable. Local associations, organizations, agencies, and businesses do their best to target their audiences and promote their training events, however, in the end, only those who have been reached have access to the professional development or continuing education being offered. Furthermore, other barriers exist in terms of financial resources for promotion (on the part of the organization), and for attendance (on the part of local mental health providers). LEARN Mental Health MN was created to help eliminate some of those roadblocks.

Actions

Now: Provide, manage, and moderate the LEARN Mental Health MN online training calendar. The calendar centralizes information on upcoming continuing education/training events and opportunities for mental health providers in Minnesota.

To public: Help increase professional competency of mental health providers in the State, ensuring the public has access to an expanding number of well-trained professionals.

Benefits

To mental health providers: Increase awareness of, and access to, training opportunities to expand professional development and competency.

To training/CE providers: Provide a low-cost and centralized way to promote and advertise training events, to help increase participation and grow potential.

To Minnesota economy: Keep money in Minnesota by promoting, hosting, and sponsoring local trainings, and providing grants/scholarships to attend local trainings. Increase competency of mental health providers to expand their public reach and their practice businesses.

Goal

To be the go-to source and first-thought for mental health providers looking for continuing education opportunities in Minnesota, and for organizations hosting or promoting mental health trainings in Minnesota.
